Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.

The herbal rinse is taken from Holistic Aromatherapy for Animals by Kristen Leigh Bell.

But I personally use 2 to 3 coffee spoons of oat and I infuse all the herbs in 2 L of hot water for several hours. Then I put 2 tea spoons of Neem Hair Oil from Dr. Hauschka and mix well.

Mix all ingredients knead dough until dough is firm. Flatten dough in a square pan and bake at 375° for 35 minutes or until golden brown.

Once turnips are peeled chop first three ingredients and put into a pot along with salt and oil and enough water to cover contents. Boil untill soft. Mash the mixture, drain surplus liquid into a separate container and keep in fridge.

Divide mashed mixture into 8oz. containers and refrigerate for immediate use i.e. next 4 days Freeze the remainder in same size containers.

The above quantity yields 500 oz of food which feeds a dog two servings of 8oz per day for one month..(Alternatively recipe yields 64 cups)

When serving 8oz at each meal use a little of the surplus fluid to moisten mixture as desired.

Note: to this mixture a person can add any supplements or other ingredients such as salmon, kibble, vegetables, meats, herbs and garlic.

Soak oats and milk together for ½ hr. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Put into baking dishes and bake at 350 degree oven for 1 hr. Store in fridge or freeze until ready to feed. You can also bake this in the microwave.

Substitute other meats, oat mixture or vegetables if you wish. One can feed this with a small amount of really good quality kibble, i.e. Merrick, Wellness, Natural Balance, Innova etc. You can also give a Multivitamin each day – i.e. Visorbits.

• 1 banana
• ½ cup pumpkin purée
• ¼ cup sweet potato
• ¼ cup raw honey
• ½ tsp cinnamon
• ½ tsp nutmeg
• ½ tsp allspice
• 1 egg

Combine all ingredients and mix into a cookie dough. (Add more flour if needed.)

Roll out dough and cut into small cubes.

Bake for 15-20 minutes at 375°C.

Our canine massage ladies, Sandy Benoit and Sylvia King (and, not to be forgotten, Sandy’s guide dog Jet) are heading into another busy spring filled with a round of dog-related events and appearances. Early in March, they appeared on the New RO Breakfast Show for a session on massage techniques and, in Sandy’s words, ‘tuning up your dog for spring’ (many of us might be grateful for a word on how to ‘tune down’ but that’s another story!)

…Needless to say, between events and public appearances, Sandy and Sylvia continue to serve their canine clientele with restorative massages to assist in the recovery from surgery, relieve chronic aches and pains, improve circulation and generally maintain well-being among the canine seniors’ set in particular.
